Koshi Tappu

I was at the Koshi Tappu last week. The long drive along the riverside road got nothing exciting except  a pair of elephants carrying some wooden logs. First time I found an elephant with healthy hair on its tail. The tail is usually hair-less as its tail hair is sold at a very high price.

Elephant hair trading has been deemed illegal for quite some time now… and the effect of this new rule is evident in this picture.

  1. Reblogged this on CLICKS and commented:

Reminisces of domesticated elephants in Nepal, and comparing them with the wild ones in Kenya. Why are African Elephants never tamed? Is it because they are too big to be tamed, or that its just not in their nature?
